Unfortunately, even the young can get Osteoporosis. They have found that women who were very thin when they were young are more likely to develop that disease when they age.

I take Viactive along with a multivitamin, fish oil, B supplemets and cranberry on a daily basis. Once you have osteoporosis (as I do) its very difficult to get rid of.

The Healthy Choice's Vitamin Specialist Jacques, suggests you get your Vitamin D levels checked. Bones are not just calcium they are also minerals. You can only absorb a certain amount of calcium at time, so it should be taken with food during the day. Also, inflammation may be involved, fish oil supplements are good for that.

I know, unfortunately, I have Osteoporosis, I'm 50 years old, and have 3 children. I always knew I would get Osteoporosis because I have a slight build and breastfed all of my children. I broke a toe just carrying around my son when he was a few months old, then a finger and fractured a rib. The Drs said I should never gain alot of weight because my bones couldn't handle it. I am considering taking hormone replacement therapy for it, because Osteoporosis is linked to age-related decline in the production of certain hormones including estrogen and progesterone and testosterone. An imbalance between hormones produced by the thyroid and the adrenal glands can also contribute to bone loss.

For example, we know that too much stress raises cortisol output, interfering with bone-building calcium absorption, while at the same time increasing the activity of bone destroying cells. We also know that smoking, alcohol intake and a lack of physical activity can contribute to loss of bone mass. A holistic approach that includes treatment with bio-identical hormones can prevent, stop, slow and even reverse osteoporosis.

If I decide to take bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for Osteoporosis, I will discuss it here, keep you posted.
