A yeast infection is the overgrowth of yeast and they are very common in women of all ages. One of the major causes of yeast overgrowth is the use of antibiotics with out the concurrent use of probiotics. Antibiotics destroy the bad bacteria along with the good bacteria causing a yeast imbalance or overgrowth. Stress could be a contributing factor by raising cortisol levels and affecting sugar levels as well. If you suffer from yeast infections sugar is not your friend, because yeast thrives on sugar. One of the best ways to treating yeast infections is controlling your diet or you will always be on diflucan! By controlling your diet we recommend no sugars, bread, pasta, and alcohol for at least 10 days to see if there are any changes in the way you feel. During that time we recommend a course of a good probiotic (acidophilis) with saccharomyces boulardii ( a yeast that eats yeast). Most patients will see a dramatic improvement in their energy level and will feel much better during that time period.
